Chasing Rainbows
More info at bottom of page
Updated 4/24/2009

February 26, 2009 - This year we are requesting everyone attending the National Specialty to fill out the Registration Form on the National 2009 web site. This is pertinent information we would need in case of an emergency. And, being the ever "Ducks must be in order" type person, I like to know we have the information we would need readily available.
Hope you are planning on joining us for 'Chasing Rainbows', at the CWCCA 2009 National Specialty. Mark your calendar for the dates of Saturday, April11th thru Sun, April 19, 2009. The host hotel is the Capitol Plaza Hotel joined to the Topeka Expocentre. This is a wonderful venue for our event. The Expocentre has been the home for many National Specialties. Lots of room for all activities.

The hotel began taking room reservations on December 2. The club has blocked off a large room block for this show. Any room cancelations must be done before March 1, 2009. On that date all existing reservations will be charged for one night. This is non-refundable . (I will be working very closely with the hotel on the reservations as well as the waiting list of people waiting to get a reservation. If someone wants to cancel their room, we will use reservations from the waiting list. If the hotel is able to fill your canceled room, you will be refunded your one night charge.) Please contact me with any questions.

Herding starts the event at the CP Ranch in Salina, KS. The herding Chair is Polly Cole and the judges are Joyce Norris and Dana Hasemeier.

Tracking will be held on Sunday at the Smithville Lake Recreation Area in Smithville MO. The Tracking Chair is Nancy Edmonds and the judges are Carol Clark and Linda Baschnagel.

Monday and Tuesday continues with Agility, Rally and Obedience – two Trials of each. The judges are Shirlee Jacobson and Rick Garvin for the Obedience and Rally Trials, with Kandy Robinson judging the Agility Trials. Contact Cheri Sutton (csutton@kc.rr.com), Agility Chairman, for information. Sheri Morrow (msstrider@q.com) can answer all your questions on the Rally Trials and Sarah Keth (graciemom@hotmail.com) has all the answers about the Obedience Trials. And, of course, the Performance Dinner and Auction that evening!

Tuesday evening is the Megan Competition Dinner in the hotel Emerald Ballroom. The three judges for the Megan are: Mandy Bossi, Dorothy Hartcher, and Peter Clifton. The menus are selected and they are wonderful. This hotel is known for their wonderful food. Contact Cindy Bossi for information.

Conformation events start on Wednesday with the Puppy and Veteran Sweepstakes. The judges are Marian Mizelle and Marla Gardner. And possibly some conformation training classes during the evening!

Thursday is the start of the regular classes with Jon Kimes officiating. I’m looking forward to the Raffle and the Annual Meeting that evening. Judging continues on Friday with the wonderful bitches as well as some Parades, Juniors events, Judges Education and a seminar on DM in Cardigans. Saturday concludes the conformation judging. Then, join us at the Emerald City for a wonderful Banquet.

Jeff Money is working on the web site and you should be able to download the information packet as well as find all information pertaining to the National. His goal is Jan 10, 2009. Site location maps are available here

Follow the rainbow to Kansas. For those of you who have no idea where Topeka is?? Topeka does exist and it is in the center of the country. You can make it your Vacation Destination for 2009!

Please feel free to contact me at any time with your questions.

Hope to see everyone there.

On January 10, 2009, the brochure, COF, and the PREMIUM LISTS will be available on line. Thank you Jeff! You will be able to view all of them on line and print out what you need. By now, you have received a postcard with this info from Ingrid Greig.

We are offering several different colors for the tee shirts and sweatshirts this year! Check them out on the COF or on the web site!

If you sign up for a Gold Registration on the COF, you will receive a large black micro fiber tote with zippered compartments on the inside and the outside of the bag. The logo will be embroidered on the front of the bag and another embroidered artwork will be on the flap of the front. In addition, it will be filled with great goodies! Purchasing a "Gold Registration" is the only way this bag will be available.

Reserved Grooming is being offered this year. If you have reserved grooming spaces, your area will be marked off with your name on it, so you can arrive and set up without any hassle. Be sure to tell us if anyone wants to be located next to a particular person and we will try to accommodate these requests. For those of you who would like the primo front row, ringside grooming spaces, we have a limited number of those available as well.

On Sunday, April 19, 2009, the Three Rivers Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of Kansas City will be hosting a regional Specialty with Judge Gayle Garvin presiding. The Premium List for this event will be available after January 10, 2009, from Don Glenn. Don can be contacted at cardigan@peoplepc.com
